How this site stays honest

The problem with card advice: most big card sites earn a commission when you apply through their links. That money shapes which cards get recommended. Refer Nerd takes zero affiliate money — when you apply through a link here, the referral credit goes to a community member, a real person, never to us.

A curated, dated database. Every card in our database is sourced from the issuer's own pages, and every offer carries an “as of” date. If we don't have a number on record, the Nerd says so instead of guessing.

Automated verification.A checker probes every shared referral link daily and hides broken ones. A separate agent re-checks the top cards' public offers against issuer pages weekly and files any drift for human review — nothing changes in the database without a person approving it.

No ghost links.If a member stops visiting, we warn them by email and then pause their links until they return — so a link you request always belongs to someone who's still around.

You can push back.Every chat answer has a “report an issue” button. Flags go straight to the human who maintains the database.
